BOPS-KIDS · A BridgeForge Protocols product

Child safety with large language models

Engineered runtime governance for child-facing AI.

BOPS-KIDS is BridgeForge Protocols LLC’s engineered runtime governance product for child-facing AI and LLM-based chatbots. Its v1.1 implementation brings child-mode controls, response-boundary checks, safer redirection, and suppression auditing into the chat response path.

Curiosity with responsibility

The child gets to be curious. We carry the governance.

Children should be able to ask questions and explore unfamiliar subjects. The adults and organizations providing AI access carry the responsibility for governing those interactions. BOPS-KIDS brings controls into the response workflow so that useful exploration and configured boundaries can work together.

Implemented in v1.1

What BOPS-KIDS does

Child-mode activation

Checks determine when child-mode controls apply.

Child-focused instructions

Child-mode instructions apply before response generation.

Response-boundary checks

Generated responses are checked against configured boundaries.

Safer redirection

Flagged responses are suppressed and redirected.

Suppression auditing

Suppression actions are recorded for technical review.

These release-specific capabilities are grounded in the engineering and completion record. Configured checks have limits; they do not establish that every unsafe response will be detected or that overall safety has been independently validated. Integration and evaluation should examine the intended workflow, failure cases and operating responsibilities.

Broader product architecture

Protected Routing and retention boundaries

The BOPS-KIDS whitepaper describes a wider governance architecture: boundaries against emotional dependency, separation of conversation content from safety signals, and routing of threshold-crossing concerns toward authorized human support. AI should support human relationships and preserve the role of responsible adults.

Zone A

Transient conversations

Child–AI conversation content is treated as transient in the architecture.

Zone B

Minimal safety signals

Non-narrative safety signals are separated from the child’s conversation content.

Zone C

Authorized human intervention

Intervention records belong to a distinct, authorized human-support context.

These are architectural principles. They do not imply that every retention or routing feature is verified in v1.1, that provider-level deletion is complete, or that staffed human support is immediately available.
